We have had a couple weeks away from the Silvermine, as Tom traveled to Texas to help his mom ready her house for sale. So just to get away we journeyed to Harrison Lake State Park (Aug 14-16) for a two night R&R. We only took the basics of food, two chairs, two dogs, and good books to read. The camp was sold out for the weekend due to the annual car show, but a mid-week arrival garnered us a select site that was shady and quiet. True to our master plan we set up camp by 3:00 and hit the recliner chairs for snoozing, reading, and crocheting . . . followed by cooking supper and more . . . chair-sitting ! The dogs were lucky to get a couple brief walks, and just as it was reasonably dark, we went to bed for more . . . reading and movie-watching. The next morning following an egg sandwich breakfast cooked on the Biolite, we made a quick visit to the town of Wauseon. During our afternoon R&R session, with a temperature of 72 degrees, we had to keep reminding ourselves that it was August. At one point we had to pick up our chairs and move into the sun to keep warm! In August! The only other notable event on this trip was the chance to try out the new window modification that Tom fixed up for me. The back window of the Silvermine is fairly big -- but only a tiny portion of it was made to open. One side was an emergency exit and Tom made this so it could easily open and close -- and even put in a window screen. This increased the ventilation options in the back of the trailer tremendously. One last item to share is a new craft project that I am working on. Ohio State Parks website has a nice map showing all the park locations and I printed it out on fabric transfer paper and ironed it onto a fabric square. I added borders, batting, and a backing and a little quilting stitching, and ended up with a wall hanging for the camper. Grandma patiently sewed on tiny button to mark the location of the parks that we have camped in. It is August, and we don't have any more camping on the calendar at this time. Usually, August is so hot and humid that it makes camping a bit uncomfortable -- but we will always remember this August camping trip where we had to "move into the sun."

We don’t go camping any more . . . we go ‘streamin’ ! The “SIlvermine and His” is our 2018 25' Airstream Serenity with Salsa interior and front twin beds., and ‘streamin’ is the name we use to describe our adventures. Stream along as we document everything from weekend trips to longer summer excursions and full-blown vacations. You know what they say: if you’re not in an Airstream – you’re just camping!
